No one has to convince Jared Dalton what he and his Ozark teammates do in practices and pre-game activities carry over to how games play out for the Tigers.
“Preparation is a big thing for all of us,” the Ozark senior designated hitter said. “The time we spend working on details allows us to excel.”
For Dalton, his preparation before practices and games is allowing him to play. Stretching has become more significant in his daily routine than ever before, following a lower-back injury earlier this month.
A strained vertebrae triggered pain in his lower back like he had never experienced.
“I jammed a vertebrae,” Dalton said. “I tried to catch a game through it, but had to come out and then went to urgent care.
“It surprised me,” he added. “You have to deal with adversity and overcome it.”
Following rehab over 10 days, doctors gave him a list of stretching exercises and clearance to return to action.
“Stretching and working through it allowed me to come back,” Dalton said. “I’ve got to make sure everything is loose or else it’s going to go back to where it was. I love playing. I’m grateful I’m able to play.”
