CHOIR CLASSES 

Women's Chorus HS2021 

(1 Credit, Gr. 10-12) Prerequisite: Audition with Mrs. Brammer or Mr. Gately

Women’s Chorus will be offered during the 5A block, and is open to all treble voices grades 9-12 interested in vocal music. Topics to be studied include proper vocal singing and breathing techniques, melody, rhythm, harmony, form, style, music fundamentals and history, sight singing and performance practices. Students will perform both Treble literature and Mixed literature jointly with Men’s Chorus. It is a stepping stone class to enter Advanced Women’s Chorus and OHS Chorale. This ensemble is a performing group in which 4 concerts a year are required. Students may be responsible for some expenses incurred.

Men’s Chorus HS2022

(1 Credit, Gr. 9-12) Prerequisite: Audition with Mrs. Brammer or Mr. Gately

Men’s Chorus will be offered during the 3A block, and is open to all tenor/bass voices grades 9-12 interested in vocal music. Topics to be studied include proper vocal singing and breathing techniques, melody, rhythm, harmony, form, style, music fundamentals and history, sight singing and performance practices. Students will perform both Men’s literature and Mixed literature jointly with Women’s Chorus. It is a stepping stone class to enter the OHS Chorale. This ensemble is a performing group in which 4 concerts a year are required. Students may be responsible for some expenses incurred.

Advanced Women’s Chorus HS2029

(1 Credit, Gr. 10-12) Prerequisite: Audition with Mrs. Brammer or Mr. Gately

Advanced Women’s Chorus will be offered during the 4A block, and is the highest level treble ensemble available at Ozark High School. It is an auditioned choir of mostly junior and senior women who have successfully completed one or more years in choral singing or have voice tested into higher levels of choral singing, sight reading, and literacy. This ensemble requires extra time devoted to District and State Choir and Contest events, as well as community events, tours, and competitive choral concerts throughout the state and country. There will be many hours of extra-curricular time spent in Advanced Women’s Chorus, and students should be aware that this class will be a top priority as it is a public representation of choirs to the community from OHS. Students may be responsible for some expenses incurred.

OHS Chorale HS2024

(1 Credit, Gr. 10-12) Prerequisite: Audition with Mrs. Brammer or Mr. Gately, & enrollment in Men’s Choir or Women’s Chamber Choir

The OHS Chorale will be offered during the 4B block, and is the highest level Mixed Ensemble of 10-12 grade students who have successfully completed one or more years in choral singing or have voice tested into higher levels of choral singing, sight reading, and literacy. This ensemble requires extra time devoted to District and State Choir and Contest events, as well as community events, tours, and competitive choral concerts throughout the state and country. There will be many hours of extra-curricular time spent in Chorale, and students should be aware that this class will be a top priority as it is a public representation of choirs to the community from OHS. Members of Chorale may be required to be enrolled in Men’s Chorus or Advanced Women’s Chorus as well. Students may be responsible for some expenses incurred.
