After two decades with the Ozark Softball program, eight of those as head coach, Jimmy Nimmo is officially hanging up his helmet and retiring.
“Ozark athletics has always had a strong winning tradition, and it’s respected all over the state,” Nimmo said. “Being given the opportunity to coach here was an absolute honor. The support from the community over the years has been incredible, and the memories I’ve made with my players are greater than any words I could put on paper.”
Nimmo took over as the Lady Tigers’ head coach in 2017, following current Athletic Director Yancey Little. During his tenure, he led the team to an impressive 177-70 record, three district championships, and two COC conference titles. Many of his players have gone on to compete at the collegiate level, earning All-State, All-District, and All-Conference honors along the way.
“Coach Nimmo did an outstanding job continuing the success of the Ozark softball program,” Little said. “His passion for the sport is undeniable, and he will be greatly missed.”
While Nimmo’s time on the field is coming to an end, the program is in good hands. Taking the reins as Ozark’s new head coach is Brenden Schneider, who currently leads the Joplin Eagles softball team.
Coach Nimmo may be stepping away, but his legacy in Ozark Softball is sure to live on for years to come!
