However unofficial it would have been, Ozark came about as close as possible to having two players, count ‘em two, reach 1,500 career points on the same night this past Friday.

Kylan Pickren upped his career points total to 1,500 by scoring 32 points last Friday in the Tigers’ victory versus Webb City. The junior forward will need 13 points against Nixa on Tuesday to become the school’s career scoring leader.

Backup senior center Josh Graves was scoreless against Webb City, leaving him stuck at 1,499 career points. He had more than 1,400 points during his decorated home-school career for Southern Missouri RUSH prior to transferring to Ozark this school year.

Graves nearly got to 1,500 with a dunk against Webb City, but lost control of the ball as he was about to slam it.

“He got fouled,” Pickren said.

“Yeah, I had (the ball) above the rim and was right there. I never say (anything bad about refs), but I kind of got fouled. The kid smacked his arms across mine,” Graves said. “But it happens. I'll get it next time.”

Graves, who had a season-high 13 points at Willard in January, has made his mark at Ozark as a high-flier. He can dunk with as much authority and style as any of the Tigers.
