Ozark High School senior Josey Roberts made history at Horton Smith Golf Course, shooting a 62 on a par-70 course to break the MSHSAA state record by eight strokes.

“Josey has been playing golf with a lot of freedom this season. With that freedom she is just in the zone and makes golf look easy. ,” said Girls Golf Head Coach Daniel Mullis. "For anyone that has played golf, they know this is a very humbling game and is not easy. As a coach I'm very happy to see her healthy and playing some unbelievable golf. She has been a true leader on our team with helping other teammates improve their craft and celebrated in their personal achievements. "

He continued, "Breaking a state record is something very unbelievable and cool. It just shows proof of the hard work she has put into this game. The names she has beat with that record are multiple state champions and current high level division 1 golfers. I feel this shows she is capable of being a very good collegiate golfer. She will be the first to tell you that this record is an amazing achievement but doesn't define her as a person. That is what coaching is about and puts a smile on my face. "

Roberts’ historic round comes as the varsity golf team prepares for the Conference on Thursday, Oct. 2 and districts next week.
