The Ozark Board of Education, during the March 13 board meeting, voted to hire Brenden Schneider as Ozark High School’s head softball coach beginning the 2025-26 school year.
“I am very excited to be joining Ozark schools as the new head softball coach,” he said. “It’s an honor to be a part of such a storied program.”
Schneider comes to Ozark with over a decade of coaching experience, starting his career as assistant softball coach at Kickapoo in 2014, where he helped the team win the District championship in 2015, before jumping to Joplin High School as an assistant coach for the softball and baseball teams in 2017 where he has remained since. He served the last three seasons at Joplin as head softball coach.
During his tenure as head coach, Joplin softball had a record of 54-43. Additionally, the team won a share of the COC West Conference Championship in 2024. During Schneider’s time as head coach, he also helped establish a youth softball program in Joplin to help create interest in the sport.
Ozark High School Athletic Director Yancey Little said he is excited for Schneider to join Ozark and bring his talent to the program.
“He brings a wealth of experience from his time at Joplin and Kickapoo,” Little said. “More importantly, he has a clear vision for the future of the program and is passionate about strengthening our youth program, which will be a huge benefit for Ozark softball.”
Schneider played baseball at Vianney High School in St. Louis and is a 2014 graduate of Southwest Baptist University where he got a bachelor’s degree in Social Science Education and also played baseball.
Schneider is replacing Jimmy Nimmo, who is retiring at the end of the school year. Nimmo has been head coach for Ozark since 2017.
“Coach Nimmo did an outstanding job continuing the success of the Ozark softball program during his time as head coach,” Little said. “His passion for the sport is evident, and he will be greatly missed. However, I’m confident that Coach Schneider will build on that strong foundation and continue the proud legacy of Ozark softball.”
