Ozark JROTC Drill Team enters the season looking to build on a championship performance from last year.

After winning the Rocky Mountain Western Drill Classic in 2026, the Tigers have set an even bigger goal for the season ahead: winning the Army JROTC Drill National Competition.

“Our main goal for the upcoming season is to win the Army JROTC Drill National Competition,” coach Keyon Boens said.

To get there, Ozark will follow what the team calls its “STEPS! to the Championship”: Sustainment, Training, Expertise, Precision and Standards.

“Sustainment is guarding our legacy and sustaining our drive. Training is putting in the relentless grind behind closed doors. Expertise is mastering our routines until they become second nature. Precision is synchronizing every angle, click and step seamlessly, and Standards is maintaining uncompromising excellence at all times,” Boens said.

Several experienced cadets will play key leadership roles throughout the season.

Cadets Logan Parks and Sofia Smith will serve as the Armed and Unarmed Exhibition commanders, while Cadets Jasper Jones and Nora Niemoth will lead the Color Guard and Armed and Unarmed Regulation teams.

“Each of these leaders has proven competitive experience and demonstrates strong leadership skills,” Boens said. “They effectively develop their teammates to perform drill movements with a high level of precision and discipline.”

With experienced leaders, a championship already under their belts and their sights set on the national stage, the Tigers are preparing for another competitive season.
