Former long-time Carl Junction coach Brad Shorter will make a return to the COC as Ozark’s new girls basketball coach.
His hiring was announced by Ozark on Thursday.
“Anytime you have the chance to join a community like Ozark, it’s special,” Shorter said in a statement released by Ozark. “I’m grateful for the opportunity and excited to get started. My focus will be on developing great young women, building strong relationships and creating a program our players, school and community can be proud of.”
He owns a 506-141 career record across 22 seasons.
Shorter was most recently at McDonald County. He coached the Lady Mustangs for two years and led them to a 21-7 mark this past season.
Most of Shorter’s career was spent at Carl Junction. He compiled a 275-72 record during two tenures (2005-08 and 2014-23) with the Lady Bulldogs. Shorter led Carl Junction to Class 4 Final Four berths in 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2023.
