Perhaps the most impressive bullet point in Kylan Pickren’s profile from his junior season will prove to be the number of ill-advised shots he has forced, however unofficial and subjective that number may be.

Pickren's adoring Ozark fans likely agree one could count his poor shots on one hand, if there actually even is such a thing as a bad Pickren shot in the view of the Tigers’ faithful.

Pickren took and made high-percentage shots in Ozark’s 51-42 triumph against Webb City on Friday. He was 12-of-18 shooting from the field, including 6-of-10 accuracy on 3-pointers.

On the season, he's challenging to finish 60 percent on his field goals, while shooting 36 percent on his 3-pointers.

“I feel like I don’t force many shots. All the shots I shoot are good ones within our offense and through our coach,” Pickren said. “I don’t want to force shots. That's not how we want to play and I don’t want to do that to my teammates. If I was playing on a team with someone who chucked up a bunch of bad shots, I wouldn’t be very happy about it. So, from my teammates’ perspective, I don’t want to do that to them.”

Pickren needed 32 points Friday to get to 1,500 career points and he got 32.

How good has he been lately? Consider that it was two months ago, or just 18 games, that he reached the 1,000-point milestone. He is on the brink of breaking Scott Smith’s Ozark career scoring record of 1,512 points that has stood for 51 years.

Over 78 career games, Pickren is averaging 19.2 points a night. Next winter as a senior, he'll surely push the Tigers' career scoring standard to 2,000-plus points and could join a short list of four-year s... Click here to read full article
