JOPLIN — Ozark’s Andrew York edged Nixa’s Jax Adams in a featured 132-pound match during the first two rounds of Class 4 District 3 action Friday.
York (37-10), a freshman, pulled out a 5-3 win against Adams (25-18), who will look to go through the consolation bracket to earn his third trip to State.
York and fellow Ozark freshmen Parker Hansen, Taiga Kwon and Trevor Sundlie all won twice Friday to make their way to the semifinal round.
Hansen upped his record to 37-2. He received a first-round bye as the top seed at 106 and posted a pin in 2:15 in the second round.
Kwon (33-10) won twice by technical fall.
Sundlie (21-16) had a first-round bye and gained an 11-0 major decision win in the second round versus Ray-Pec’s Gage Medley (27-14).
Also earning semifinal berths for Ozark were Colton Wilson (28-2) at 138, Teagon Patterson (38-10) at 144, Talyn Van Horn (29-17) at 150 and Isaiah Collins (37-8) at 285.
