Parker Hansen will be among Ozark's freshmen and sophomores who hope to show off their braces during Class 4 District 3 action this weekend, flashing wide smiles while celebrating their earned entry to State.
Hansen, Ozark’s prized 106-pounder, is one of four freshmen in the Tigers’ lineup. That group also includes Taiga Kwon at 113, Emmit Degase at 126 and Andrew York at 132.
Sophomore starters for Ozark include Colton Wilson at 138, William Fevold at 157 and Isaiah Collins at 285.
Hansen has wore braces for more than two years and is looking forward to bring free of them, along with a mouthpiece, beginning this summer.
“Sometimes, with the mouthpiece, it’s hard to breathe during a match,” Hansen said. “I’ll take it out in between periods to catch my breath. I think once I take my braces off, that will help me a lot to breathe fully.”
Even with a mouthpiece, Hansen suffered a cut in his mouth during the COC Tournament.
“That’s going to happen whether you’re wearing a mouthpiece or not,” Hansen said. “One good bump and you could have a bunch of blood.”
