This week, Ozark High School junior Avery Havens is Athlete of the Week, presented by Guaranty Bank! As the girls basketball season kicks off, Avery is already making an impact, delivering a strong performance in the team’s first tournament, according to Head Coach Brandon Clift.

"Avery is off to a great start this season," Clift said. "This past weekend, she delivered a solid performance at the First Nations Bank Classic in Rogers, Arkansas—earning a well-deserved spot on the All-Tournament Team and helping the team to a 2-1 record in the Classic. Through the early stretch of the season, Avery is averaging 13 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, showcasing her versatility and consistency."

This week, Ozark High School junior Jack Sallie is Athlete of the Week, presented by Guaranty Bank! Jack had a strong start to the basketball season during the team’s first game against West Plains, according to Head Coach James Donnelly.

"Jack gave us a spark off the bench in our first regular-season game at West Plains, and in his first varsity game, he scored 13 points," Donnelly said. "Jack is not only excelling on the floor but is also a great leader in the classroom. We appreciate the high expectations he sets for himself and those around him. Continue to work hard, Jack—we are proud of you!"

This week, OHS senior Sebastian Benedict is Artist of the Week! Sebastian is one of OHS’s many talented musicians recently selected for All-State Band, according to Band Director Tom Meyer.


“Sebastian is the trombone section leader in the Ozark Band," Meyer said. "At All-State Band tryouts last weekend, Sebastian earned two All-State honors. He earned eighth-chair trombone in the state of Missouri and an honorable mention in the jazz category (top 10). This marks a staggering five All-State selections in the last two years. Sebastian is a wonderful leader and student, complementing his outstanding musical talent!"

This week, OHS junior Carter Rickard is Tiger of the Week! Carter is an important leader in the culinary arts program and will be serving as sous chef as the program caters this year's Ozark State of the Community Dinner, according to Chef Laurent Watts.

"Carter is great in the kitchen," Watts said. "He understands how to balance flavors to create dishes that are both appealing to the eye and the taste buds. When I need to get something done, I know I can count on Carter to help out. He will make a great cook or chef someday."
