Less than a year after Republic held Ozark to its lowest points total against any opponent going all the way back to 2008, Ozark kept Republic Tuesday to its low water mark in the teams’ series over the last 14 years.

It a new year, but in another example to always take the under when these two meet Ozark downed Republic 49-44.

Over the last 25 Ozark-Republic matchups, Republic has failed to reach 45 points in only one other game, a 46-43 loss at Ozark in 2012.

Ozark coach Jayme Donnelly will take a win in the 40s any night.

“Some nights like tonight shots don't fall. But what you can control is how hard you play on defense,” Donnelly said. ‘We got stops when we needed to and made enough plays to win a tough basketball game.”

Ozark (8-3) had lost four straight to Repmo (7-4), but boy the losing streak seemed longer. That stretch included a 56-25 setback at Districts last season. None of Ozark’s current players were suiting up for varsity games the last time Ozark had knocked off Republic.
