SPRINGFIELD — Colton Wilson didn’t go through an identity crisis, per se. He knows fully well who he is and what he’s all about. But a broken ankle that kept him off the mat for two months had him feeling lost without being in Ozark's wrestling room.
“I love wrestling. I don't even know my identity without wrestling,” the Ozark 144-pound sophomore said. “It’s one of the only things I do.”
Wilson made a glorious return last week, going undefeated at the Carthage Team Duals, followed by capturing a championship at the Kinloch Classic.
Wilson is off to a 12-0 start, after beating Ray-Pec’s Evan Gatlin 4-1 in their title tilt Saturday.
“It’s been a good week. It feels amazing to be back,” he said.
Wilson is feeling fulfilled after handling his idle time during November and much of December as well as could be expected.
