Ozark’s defense went from forcing six turnovers last week to yielding seven touchdowns Friday in a 49-21 home-opening setback to Carthage.
Ozark (1-1) couldn’t keep pace with Carthage (2-0), even while having a wide receiver reach the 100-yard rushing mark for the second night in as many weeks.
Carthage running back Landon West rushed for 206 yards and three touchdowns and quarterback Zane Browning ran for 110 yards and one touchdown and completed 8-of-11 passes for 107 yards and three more scores.
Ozark was down 28-6 by halftime.
An Ozark lost fumble inside its own 20-yard line helped Carthage to its 22-point halftime lead.
