Its time again to honor some our awesome athletes, artists and Tigers! This week's 'of the weeks' are athletes Ileana Naihe & Riley Franklin; artist Jean Schnakenberg; and Tiger Tessa Glossip.
Ileana is one of the many talented members of the track and field team, according to Girls Head Coach Shawn Widel.
“Ileana has come into this track season with a mindset of improvement and competitiveness," Widel said. "Her times in both the 100M and 200M have improved over past seasons, and she has been a key contributor to both the 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams. Her leadership and talent have helped the 4x100 relay team break the school record multiple times already this season. We are excited to see where her hard work and dedication will take her for the remainder of the season."
Ileana said she loves the personal challenge of track.
“I love the personal challenge of track," she said. "Philippians 4:13 says, 'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.' I use that scripture to motivate me to strive to make the best of my abilities. If I can do that, then I feel confident that I can make a positive contribution to my team."

Riley is a standout member of the boys golf team, according to Head Coach Daniel Mullis.
“Riley Franklin has been a consistent force for us all season," Mullis said. "As just a sophomore, he has already finished in the top 10 at every event so far, including a second-place finish at the Bolivar Invitational with a score of 73 and a strong third-place showing at the Willard Invitational, which helped us win that event for the second year in a row."

Jean is one of OHS's many talented band members and has been a cornerstone of the program since she was in eighth grade, according to Assistant Band Director DJ Faught.
“Jean is a section leader in our marching band and has been a member of our jazz program since eighth grade," Faught said. "She always has a positive attitude and is a joy to work with. Jean is a fantastic saxophone player and has been an asset to our program!"

Tessa is one of OHS's many talented interior design students and is deeply dedicated to learning all she can, according to Interior Design Teacher Lexy McNew.
“Tessa is such an incredible interior design student,” McNew said. “She takes every project and makes it her own. She dives deeply into the online program we use to create 2D and 3D design renderings and learns intricate aspects of the program, far more than what is expected of her. Tessa also willingly helps other students in the class learn about features of the program that she has explored.”
Tessa said she has loved learning more about interior design and hopes to pursue it as a career.
“Taking interior design has strengthened my creativity and positively influenced other hobbies and aspects of my life,” she said. “I am more motivated to put effort into my work in this class because I enjoy it.”
Congrats Ileana, Riley, Jean & Tessa!
